More Projects

I've had the opportunity to lead various events and projects at the University of Florida. Throughout my experiences, I've learned executive leadership skills and communication management strategies that continue to shape the future of my education endeavors.

Tower Yearbook

Growing up, I knew what it was like to feel isolated. Entering college in 2020 at a predominantly white institution, I also felt seclusion, knowing that other individuals go through similar feelings. With that, the only thing I wanted to do when I entered college was provide anything to bring together the community rather than feel divided. I remember working on my yearbook in high school and seeing my peer's expressions when they could reflect on their memories. There's nothing better than watching faces light up while people realize they were a part of something special. Immediately, I knew this was what I wanted to bring to the University of Florida community. During the most unprecedented time in our history, having a yearbook meant that the community could collectively look back on the gleaming light there was at the end of the tunnel; this was unity. Starting the yearbook program at UF is one of my proudest accomplishments.

Careers in Communications Internship Panel

After receiving many questions regarding how I landed internships in college, I had the idea to host an Internship Panel. Gathering students with notable internship experiences as panelists, I arranged an event with a moderated discussion about the intricacies of internships, along with a Q&A session. As the event coordinator, I ideated the event, set up the event space at my university's auditorium, and led a team of student marketers, ushers, content creators, and an A/V team, among other volunteers. I leveraged communication management knowledge and organizational leadership to direct meetings and keep detailed records leading up to the panel. The panel was described as an "internship-themed Comic-Con panel" by an attendee — a personal achievement for a nerd like me. This event was highly regarded at the college and will continue to be hosted by the Journalism and Communications Ambassadors annually.
